The Dallas Cowboys are the NFL’s most recognizable franchise — “America’s Team,” instantly identified by the silver star. That reach makes the Cowboys one of the strongest team collector markets in football cards: there are more Cowboys collectors, chasing more players, than for almost any other franchise.

Founded in 1960 as an NFL expansion team, the Cowboys have won five Super Bowls — VI (1971 season), XII (1977), XXVII (1992), XXVIII (1993) and XXX (1995) — from eight Super Bowl appearances and ten NFC championships. (Franchise and championship record per the Dallas Cowboys article on Wikipedia, read 24 August 2026.)

The modern core

Today’s Cowboys collection starts with quarterback Dak Prescott and receiver CeeDee Lamb, plus the Dallas-era cards of pass rusher Micah Parsons, who was traded to Green Bay in August 2025. Their rookie cards, numbered parallels, and autographs are the most actively traded modern-Cowboys cards.

The legends

The franchise’s history gives collectors a deep bench of Hall of Fame names: Emmitt Smith (the NFL’s all-time rushing leader), Troy Aikman and Roger Staubach at quarterback, Michael Irvin at receiver, and stars like Deion Sanders and Tony Dorsett. Vintage rookies of these players — especially in high grade — are the cards that hold value across decades. Most Cowboys collections get built around a championship team, so if you are working backwards from a title run, our Cowboys Super Bowl teams reference lists all eight Super Bowl rosters season by season with the card era each one belongs to. The full Canton roster, era by era, is in our Dallas Cowboys Hall of Famers card reference — including the 1960s and 1970s names (Bob Lilly, Chuck Howley, Mel Renfro, Bob Hayes, Drew Pearson, Randy White) whose cards are far scarcer than the junk-wax legends.

Where to buy

Singles, autos, and graded slabs trade on eBay, not in sealed boxes. Use the player guides and top lists on this site to jump straight to live listings for the exact players you collect. New to the brands? Our guide to every Dallas Cowboys card set, era by era maps the vintage Topps, junk-wax, and modern Panini/Topps landscape so you know which cardboard is which. Sealed football boxes and supplies (a secondary market) are covered in our categories section.

Already have a stack of Cowboys cards and want to know what’s in it? Our guide to what your Dallas Cowboys cards are worth walks through identifying the year, set, and card type on the back of a card, then checking real sold prices instead of asking prices.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who makes Dallas Cowboys NFL cards?
It depends on the year. Panini held the exclusive NFL and NFLPA licence from 2016 through the 2025 season (Prizm, Donruss, Select, Mosaic, Contenders, National Treasures, Score). From 2026 the licence belongs to Fanatics-owned Topps — 2025 Topps Chrome Football, released 15 April 2026, was the first fully licensed Topps NFL product since 2015, and 2026 Topps Flagship Football followed on 21 August 2026. Panini still prints football (2026 Donruss Football, 30 September 2026) but its pro cards are now unlicensed and carry no Cowboys marks. Cowboys players appear across all of these brands.
Which Cowboys players are most collectible?
Among current players, Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb lead the market; Micah Parsons' Dallas-era cards (2021-2024, before his 2025 trade to Green Bay) still trade heavily as Cowboys cards. Among legends, Emmitt Smith, Troy Aikman, Michael Irvin, Roger Staubach, Deion Sanders, and Tony Dorsett are the blue-chip names.
